General Responsibilities:
Responsible for keeping up the quality of the course. Does fertilization, irrigation and other general upkeep.
Likes working outside and getting to see the results of his work going into the course. Likes working with the people that come to the course, people are usually happy when they come to golf. Also likes working with his co-workers. Also handles all hirings/firings done for maintenance workers
Dislikes that he works long hours, being an owner he has to devote an incredible amount of time and effort, but understands its part of the job. Doesn’t like that there seems to always be a random problem that pops up on a daily basis.
Hours: Start time fluctuates depending on time of year, but always starts before dawn. So in the summer the day usually starts before five in the morning. Finishes most days around three or four o’clock unless he closes the pro-shop.
Pay range for Superintendents: Anywhere between $30,000 and $200,000
Tips: Be ready to work a lot of hours, but also important to have a social life, need to always remember to balance work and play. Its important that you like the people you work with, so that way you enjoy your work.
